Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17
It has become common in the modern church era for people to believe they can be “born again” without experiencing a real change. But Scripture makes it clear—saying yes to Jesus brings transformation. The change is not optional, and it’s not on our terms. We cannot stop or muzzle the work He begins in us. When we are truly in Christ, everything changes.
1. Our Identity Changes in Christ
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature...” (2 Cor. 5:17)
The word “if” challenges us to examine whether we are truly in Christ. If we are, there is a clear and undeniable change.
From Sinner to Saint
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people...” (1 Peter 2:9)
Once we were far from God—now we are His treasured possession.
From Lost to Found
Luke 15 paints the picture of a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son—all of which were found.
When Jesus finds us, our identity is no longer defined by what we were, but by who we now belong to.
2. Our Purpose Changes in Christ
Saul of Tarsus is a powerful example.
Once a persecutor, now a preacher.
Once chasing Christians down, now chasing Christ Himself.
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21)
Christ redefines our life’s direction. He redirects our gifts, our energy, and our influence toward His mission.
3. Our Future Changes in Christ
“Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
The phrase “in Christ” reveals not only a new beginning but an eternal position.
If Christ is eternal, and we are in Him—then our future is secure, everlasting, and full of hope.
Christ in us, the hope of glory.
What a difference Jesus makes. If you’ve said yes to Him, you’ve said yes to the change. A changed identity. A changed purpose. A changed future. This isn’t just external—it’s a total transformation from the inside out. Let the world see what Jesus has changed in you.
